A private tour is especially worthwhile for travellers who prefer personal guiding, comfortable transportation and a more relaxed experience without travelling with an unfamiliar group.
A professional guide provides valuable historical and cultural context, helps visitors navigate the underground city and explains the significance of locations that may otherwise be difficult to understand.
Wear comfortable walking shoes and clothing suitable for the season. Bringing an extra layer is recommended because underground cities can feel cooler than outdoor areas.
Advance booking is recommended, especially during busy travel periods or when requesting a guide in a language other than English. This provides more time to arrange the required guide and vehicle.
The Green Tour focuses on South Cappadocia, including underground settlements, Ihlara Valley and historic rock-cut sites. The Red Tour mainly explores the valleys, fairy chimneys, villages and open-air museums of North Cappadocia.
